Chennai: A woman in Tamil Nadu delivered identical triplets - all girls - by caesarean section, hospital officials said.
The three daughters were born to Mohanapriya 21, at Saveetha Medical college Thandalam Chennai,
Ebsiban and Kumudam , the doctor's at the hospital, told reporters.The infants weighed 1.77kg to 1.85 kg at birth. Normal weight of a newborn infant should be about two kg. However, the doctor's said the condition of all the three babies is good though they are underweight.Mohanapriya who already has a two-year-old boy, had a natural conception. The children were kept under observation in the Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)at saveetha medical college.The hospital authorities have decided to keep them in an incubator for a week with free treatment and medicine.Twins and triplets have become common over the past few decades because of fertility treatments, but doctors say identical triplets are still rare.
