Viksha 2016

Deparment of Civil Engineering-Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha University,
conducted a two day symposium named VIKSHA 2K16 at Saveetha School of Engineering ,
Thandalam Campus, Chennai, on 3rd and 4th March 2016.
Around 600 students from different collages of south India participated
in this mega event conducted only by the students for the students.
The curtain for the mega event unveiled by
lighting of lamp by vice principal Dr.Dhanasekaran.
while chief guest Dr.Arunbabu Professor CWR,Anna university ,Chennai and other
dignitaries were  present on this auspicious occasion.
 Second days session was started with a workshop on "Green Building"
by the experts from Singapore based consulting team. The symposium was
concluded with cash and certificate distribution on second day.

INTRA CLIENT COUNSELLING COMPETITION 2016.
Chennai: Saveetha School of Law, Saveetha University  organized a two day  ( 25th &26th )’Intra Client Counselling Competition 2016’ at Saveetha School of Law , University campus Poonamallee, Chennai on 25th and 26th  2016.
 Hon’ble Justice Dr.T N Vallinayagam was the Guest of Honour, and  distribute Prices. Saveetha University Vice Chancellor Dr. R Rajagopal Presided over the function. Saveetha School of Law Director Prof Dr. Anitha Rao welcome the gathering and Assist. Prof. of  law  Vasundara Ravi delivered the vote of thanks.
The Client Counselling Competition promotes greater knowledge and interest among law students in the preventive law and counselling functions of law practice. It also encourages students to develop interviewing, planning, and analytical skills in the lawyer-client relationship in the law office. Interviewing and advising are a significant part of most lawyers’ work. The Competition provides an opportunity for a valuable educational interchange between students, law teachers, and legal practitioners.

Client Counselling Competition:

It gives us immense pleasure to conduct the first Intra – Client Counselling Competition (ICCC)’16 in our college which is among our students where each team shall consist of two student participants and would be allotted a room for the interview and counselling. Here, the two student participants will present themselves as advocates in a lawyer’s chamber. The client will be a person trained by the organizers and the advocates will counsel the clients regarding the given problem. The two participants are required to elicit all relevant information from the client by interviewing or questioning the client and then counsel the client. This competition will be conducted on 25th &26th February, 2016 in Saveetha School The Winners of ICCC’ 16 shall be awarded each with one year subscription of Practical Lawyer (for two students).

Socio-Legal Audio-Visual festival, FRAMES -2016,
Saveetha School of Law organized a two day Socio-Legal Audio-Visual festival, FRAMES 
2016, the first of its kind in any law schools in India, on 18th and 19th February, 2016. The 
purpose of FRAMES was to encourage the students to have an insight into the emerging socio-legal issues by dispelling misconceptions, myths and prejudices surrounding social issues and 

empower them to have broader perspectives through the use of audio-visual medium. It also 
provided a platform to showcase the students’ talents in photography, documentary and short-

film making on such issues. Five broad themes were chosen this year for FRAMES 2016 namely Marginalized sections of the society, Inequality, Disability, Human Rights and Day-to-day social FRAMES 2016 included short-film and Documentary Competition, Photography Contest, Drawing, Face Painting and Junk Art Competition and Exhibition for Students.  The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. R. Anita Rao, Director, Saveetha School of Law on 18th February, 2016 and she officially declared open the photography, painting and junk art exhibition at Saveetha School of Law. Eight short films and two documentaries directed by our students on issues like transgender, alcoholism, women empowerment, illiteracy, importance of agriculture, Right to Education to name a few were screened and were reviewed by other students. The students opined that the documentaries and short films have helped them understand better, the day to day issues of the society by enabling them to connect law with grey areas so as to address The valedictory function was held on Friday, 19th February, 2016 in M.M. Convention. Mr. Nanjil Vijayan, Vijay TV actor was the Chief Guest and Mr. Balaji, Cine Actor was the Guest of Honour. The students performed the finale performance of the Best Traditional Folk dance featuring various Tamil folk dances. Awards for the Best Short-Film, Best Documentary, Winner of Photography, Junk Art, Painting competitions were distributed by the Chief Guests. Thus, FRAMES 2016 provided a forum for communication, interaction and discussion between students on various socio-legal issues.
