 An Oral Health Awareness Camp “Making Children Smile” at The Pupil Saveetha Eco School.

Chennai: Nov.28,2015, Balwant Singh Grewal aged 80, Chairman of the British charity, India 

Association. Balwant (affectionately known as Bobby) has been raising funds for the charity.

          Bobby began his first charitable work in 2001when he ran the London Marathon 

aged 66 raising funds for the National Blind Children’s Society UK. Similarly, he had 

done charity work in India also. The funds raised by the marathon are being donated to Prime Minister relief fund and other causes.

The aim of “Bobby’s Walk full circle” is to raise funds for recognised causes both 

within the UK and India. His walk is supported by Sterling Dental Foundation, U.K.

He started from Kanyakumari on 25th October, and have already walked over 

400km following the east coast towards Chennai. He will then walk on to Kolkata, before 

finishing his walk in New Delhi at the beginning of April 2016. He will complete the walk 

aged 81.

His Walk through Chennai, Tamil Nadu is supported by Saveetha Dental College 

in organizing a Oral Health Awareness Camp for the school children with the motto, 

“Making Children Smile” during the month of November’15. 

The reception for the same was held on 28th Nov 2015  at Saveetha 

Dental College, Chennai.  Dr. Deepak Nallasamy, Director of Academics, Saveetha 

Dental College felicitated the guest. He added, Saveetha University feels proud in 

supporting this event by organizing oral health awareness camp for the school children.

Dr. Rajan Bhanot, Ms. Shelin, Team members of “Bobby’s Walk Full Circle”  

were also present in the meeting.

Mr. Balwant Singh Grewal expressed that people should extend their hands in 

helping those in need. To emphazise the same, he adopted the Marathon run to create 

awareness among the public on charity work.

Saveetha Dental College, Chennai.

Saveetha University Celebrates founder's day

Saveetha University, a leading educational institution, celebrated their founder's day at M M Convention centre, Dental college campus, Poonnamallee on Wednesday.(18th Nov.2015) At the occasion, seven life time achievement awards were given to the awardees.

Saveetha University scholarships amounting of Rs.10,81,6000 Core, General Proficiency awards for students securing ranks amounting of Rs.69,89093 lakhs, awards for student paper presentations  amounting to Rs.76,000,Best Researcher award amounting to Rs.1,00000 lakh, Dr.A P J Abdul Kalam Chair for Research with corpus fund Rs.5 core, were also given to over 2801 students on the occasion of Founder's Day. The key highlight of the Founder's Day was also the presentation of the Life time achiever awards.

This year's recipients are:

Prof.(Dr)Ranbir Singh (Founder Vice- Chancellor of National Law University, Vice- Chancellor of NALSAR, University of law, AP, Professor of law National law School of India University, Bangalore.),

Dr. K K Ramalingam( Known as the father of modern ear surgery in India, Founder and Chairman of the KKR ENT group of Hospitals and Research Centre.),

Dr. P K Basker (President of Sri Viveka Institute of dental Health and Prof. Emeritus of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and also the  Senior Consultant of at Vijaya Hospital, Chennai.),

Dr. Radha S Murthy ( founder Trustee, Nightingales Medical Trust and president of Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India, Bangalore.),

Thiru.Atlas M Nachimuthu. (Founder Chairman of Karur Textile Park, Karur District president of the Bharath Scouts and Guides.),

Thiru. M Murali ( Managing Director of Sri Krishna Sweets),

Dr. Sailakshmi Balijepalli moved by experience with infants dying for want of medical care, decided to dedicate her life to eliminating this scourge. she received the "Nari Shakti Puruskar Award" from the President of India on International Women's day, 2014.

Veeraiyan, in his inaugural address highlighted the growth of Saveetha Dental College over 27 years and that of Saveetha University over the past 10 years.Saveetha University Vice-Chancellor Dr.Mythili Bhaskaran presided over the function. Roots Industries India Limited Director Dr. Kavidasan was the Chief guest.
