In a record, 28,000 people learn how to perform CPR at Saveetha University,
Chennai: In a Guinness record breaking event, a total of 28,050 people learnt to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on Friday.The two-day event 'Save-A-Life Movement' was conducted at Saveetha University in association with Times Foundation, a body initiated by the Times Group. Close to 60 educational institutions participated in the event which was conducted to create awareness regarding the use of CPR technique to save lives. Over 2,500 student volunteers, 200 staff and 100 instructors from the college worked round-the-clock to achieve this feat.Swapnil Dangarikar, adjudicator with Guinness World Records and N M Veeraiyan, chancellor of the university, inaugurated the event.

Volunteers had to conduct 60 chest compressions at the rate of 120/minute on a single mannequin, during the session. The team also set an additional world record by doing a relay without going on a break.Participants learnt the procedure on how to start with the heart, lungs and keep the brain of the patient alive. With such training, a regular bystander will be equipped to give preliminary first-aid to save someone's life."Every individual of the university along with partnered universities came together to create a social change," said T Gunasekaran, dean of the university.

11th graduation day of  Saveetha Engineering College was   held on 26th March 2016 at M.M Convention  Centre, Saveetha University  Campus, Poonamallee High Road , Chennai. 667 graduand’s received their degree certificates. The vice chairman of UGC Prof.Dr.H.Devaraj was the chief guest  and  Mr.S.Sankara Narayanan- Director of IBM was  the  guest of honour.

Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan, Founder President and Chancellor of Saveetha University  presided over the function, and in his presidential address he insisted the students to be grateful   to their parents, teachers, institution and country. He called upon the graduands  to dream big and  achieve big.  

Earlier, Dr. E.N.Ganesh, Principal, Saveetha Engineering College delivered the welcome address and presented the annual report highlighting the various achievement’s of the college in academics, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

 Dr.H. Devaraj, the chief guest has highlighted that the  youth power of India has  great opportunity awaiting them   which is to be grabbed. He  has called upon the students to break the mental block in them, so that they can think and consider higher target and goals. Dr.H.Devaraj has also indicated the urgent need for research and development and also the need for closer university industry interaction. Further, Dr.H.Devaraj has said only engineering professionals can find solutions to the challenges faced in India such as power shortage, flooding, water shortage, environmental pollution, etc.

The guest of honour  Mr.Sankara Narayanan, Director–IBM,India has  pointed out the pace of technology changes and called upon the engineering and  management professionals to adapt the change so that they will survive and achieve better solution  for  today’s  challenges.

The graduate’s have taken up a pledge on graduation day and the  ceremony concluded  with vote of  thanks  proposed by Prof.A.Gandhi.

Around 881 students received their degrees at the 9th convocation of Saveetha University here on 18th march at M MConvention  Centre, Saveetha University  Campus, Poonamallee High Road,Chennai.Eight students received their PhD and 135 students received their Postgraduate degrees.

During the event Hon.P KamalaNathan,Deputy Minister of Education & Higher Learning, Goverment of Malaysia,Prof.Vijay K Varadan,University of Arkansas, USA, Dr.Thangarajan RajKumar, Professor and Head, Dept.of Molecular Oncology, Cancer Institute, Adyar,were conferred with the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa).The 9th convocation ceremony is presided by the Founder President and Chancellor of Saveetha University Dr. N M Veeraiyan.Vice-Chancellor Dr.R Raja Gopal,Registrar Dr.D Prabhavathy,University Director of Academics Dr.Deepak Nallaswamy,

The College of Nursing, Saveetha University  celebrated  International renal day at Government school , Thandalam with the theme of  “ Kidney disease and children ,Act early to prevent it”.. .
There was a presentation on act early to prevent renal diseases by.M.Rajeswari, Clinical Instructor, Saveetha College Of Nursing. The presentation comprised of definition, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, prevention  and treatment aspect of kidney diseases among children. Doubts were clarified regarding prevention of  Renal diseases in children. After the session feedback was collected from the Teachers.  The programe was started at with prayer song.  followed by a special speech by Sivalingam, Headmaster, Government school,Thandalam.   
Solomon, Saveetha College of Nursing welcome the gathering and Jasila Abraham, Clinical Instructor, Saveetha College Of Nursing delivered the vote of thanks.

Saveetha college of Nursing celebrated International women’s day with the theme of  “ Pledge for parity” at Nalli arangam. The programme was started with Tamizh thai vazhthu.  At 9.40 am the dignitaries  on the dias lighten the kuthuvilaku .
The presidential address was given by Dr.P.Mangalagowri, Principal,SCON with the focus on theme of the day. Then the chief guest Dr.Rita Rani Mandal, professor, Lady willington (IASE) delivered the inaugural address on gender equality, Pledge for parity and highlighted the importance of female empowerment.
Latha, sub-Inspector of police, Women police station, Avadi, given the eye opening speech regarding the  law protecting the women and shared her experience. Then it is followed by Nithya kumari, Inspector of police, Women police station, Avadi, shared her life and career experience and insisted on women education which is the basis for women empowerment.
Role play competition winners: Ishwarya, selvarani, suseela, Tinu jose (Ist  year Bsc Nursing)  and runner up - Divya selvam, Deepa, Mini shiny, Kalaivani (Bsc(N) III year).

Chennai: Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing department of Saveetha College of Nursing, Saveetha University observed First World Gynaecology Cancer day celebration on Cervical cancer Awareness at OBG OPD of Saveetha Medical College Hospital.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof.S.Kala Barathi, HOD of OBG Nursing, around 70 to 75 women’s attended the programme. The concept of Cancer cervix was explained by Prof. S.Kala Barathi. Students of B.Sc(N)III year Illustrated the causes, signs and symptoms, diagnostic method of cancer cervix through Villupaattu. The programme was also highlighted by display of poster exhibition on various pictures related to signs, investigation and vaccine.
             This was followed by interactive session, the audience was very much receptive and they cleared their doubts. This programme was very encouraging and motivating where many were willing to undergo free screening which was organised today in OBG out patient department.

Department of CSE/IT & ECE ,Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha University conducted a two day’s Second International  Conference on Human Computer Interactions (‘ICHCI-2016’) at Universities Thandalam campus  on 10th and 11th march 2016.

 The advancements of Human Computer Interaction have led to this global event, with the continuation of ICHCI’13. This conference illuminated about the latest trends of Human Computer Interactions by renowned  Scientists, Academicians, Research Scholars, Industry professionals and the students across the globe.

The conference started with  inaugural function led by His Excellency Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan, Founder and Chancellor of Saveetha University, Dr. Liu Yun-hui, Professor, Mechanical and Automation Engineering, University of Hong Kong, Dr David Jenkins, Professor in Electronics and Mathematics, Plymouth University, UK,  Mrs. Ramya Deepak, Director, Saveetha School of Engineering  , Dr. P. Shankar, Principal SSE , Dr. D. Dhanasekaran Convener and Dr.P. C. Kishore Raja Co-convener.

Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan and Prof. Liu Yun- hui released the conference proceedings ICHCI -2016, followed by series of  invited talks by eminent professionals.
A Memorandum of Understanding was done with Intel lab for setting up center of excellence labs  on IOT and embedded systems at SSE.The first key note address on “Surgical Robots” by Dr. Liu Yun-hui, Professor, University of Hong Kong was held at Kurinji Hall .

The first technical Session  on “Human Computer Interaction” was delivered  by  Dr. Swaminathan, Associate professor, Academician, Anna University,  Mr. Sivarajan Nepolean, Industrialist Director -Engineering Channellive, , and  Mr. Venkateshwaran, Researcher in Multicoreware.
The Second key note address on “Human – Robot Interaction” was delivered by Professor David Jenkins, Plymouth University UK , held at seminar Hall SSE  .

The Second Technical Session  on “Augmented Reality” led by Academician Dr. Bhaskaran,  Anna University, Industrialist Mr. Sukumar Subramanian,  MD, Accel Animation and  Researcher, Mr. Mukesh, Vice-President, E-Noah Solutions.Parallel sessions were held on Paper and poster presentations  by  participants from India and abroad.

The second day started with third  keynote address  on “Artificial Intelligence”  delivered by Dr. Nor Ashidi Mat Isa, Professor, University of Sains, Malasiya, followed by third technical session on “Internet of Things (IoT)” by the  distinguished  persons Dr. Bagayaveni, Professor, College of Engineering, Anna University  Mr. T. Rangarajan, TCS,  and Prof. Prithiviraj ,REC.

Fourth key note session on “Embedded Systems” was delivered by Dr. Suresh Sundaram, NTU, Singapore , followed by fourth technical session on “Sensors” by Mrs. L.K. Hema, AVIT, Mr. Kalaiselvan, Deputy GM, TATA Communications and Dr. Nirmala Grace, VIT, Vellore. 

We received around 1099 research articles across the globe. The Review Committee scrutinized the papers based on  technical depth and originality and selected 135 papers for presentation. To mention a few, we have received manuscripts from ,Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, University of  Teknologi MALAYSIA, BITS Pilani, Dubai , Ulster University, U K,  Hohai University, China.

The event folded with valedictory function presided by Mr.S.Bhanu Kumar, Director WinVinaya info systems, Dr.Suresh Sundaram, NTU, Singapore, Mrs. Ramya Deepak, Director,Saveetha School of Engineering  , Dr. P. Shankar, Principal SSE, Dr. D. Dhanasekaran Convener and Dr.P. C. Kishore Raja Co-convener. Report on ICHCI -2016 was read by Mrs.Anusuya, Associate Professor ,SSE. Best papers and best poster presentations were awarded to the participants. Feed back from the participants added more honour for the conference -ICHCI 2016. Saveetha School of Engineering  Director Mrs.Ramya Deepak delivered the vote of thanks. With the grace of Lord Almighty the entire event ended successfully.

conducted a two day symposium named VIKSHA 2K16 at Saveetha School of Engineering ,
Thandalam Campus, Chennai, on 3rd and 4th March 2016.
Around 600 students from different collages of south India participated
in this mega event conducted only by the students for the students.
The curtain for the mega event unveiled by
lighting of lamp by vice principal Dr.Dhanasekaran.
while chief guest Dr.Arunbabu Professor CWR,Anna university ,Chennai and other
dignitaries were  present on this auspicious occasion.
 Second days session was started with a workshop on "Green Building"
by the experts from Singapore based consulting team. The symposium was
concluded with cash and certificate distribution on second day.

15th college day, sports day and  annual cultural festival at Saveetha Engineering College, Thandalam, Chennai



15th college day and sports day have been celebrated at Saveetha Engineering College on 05th March 2016 in grand manner. The Sports Day was inaugurated by Ms.Prathibha Suryasekar Captain, Indian Basket Ball Team in the sprawling ground and the winners of 30 sports and game events have been given prizes and certificates. The chief guest has highlighted the importance of physical educations to make academic education more effective and meaningful.

The College Day was inaugurated by Mr.R.Vijayan General Manager ,CADeploy Engineering private Limited Hyderabad in the presence of Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan Founder President and Chancellor of Saveetha University, Dr.S.Rajesh, Director -Saveetha Engineering College and Principal Dr.E.N.Ganesh . Mr.R.Vijayan has called upon the students to enjoy the present in a productive way as the moment lost will never come back. He also emphasized on interdisciplinary learning, respect and concern for the parents. He has indicated that friends and compliment may make you happy but enemies and criticism will make you win. So he insisted to accept the criticism in a right spirit.

On this occasion first three rank holders of every discipline has been given cash awards and certificates. Faculty members who produced 100 percent results also got certificate of appreciation and cash prizes. Five students from economically poor background but academically performing good has been given scholarship by Saveetha Engineering College Alumni Association. 24 University rank holders in 2014-15 Anna University examination have been   given certificates and prizes. Earlier Dr.R.Senthil Kumar, HOD of EEE Department has delivered the welcome address followed by annual report presented by Principal Dr.E.N.Ganesh. The function came to an end with the vote of thanks given Dr.A.Gandhi, Head - Training and Placement Department.

Chennai: On 4th of march 2016 Saveetha Engineering College will be celebrating its  college day in a grand manner with their distinguished chief guest Mr.R.Vijayan, General
 Manager-Human Resource, CADeploy Engineering Private Limited, Hyderabad.
The inaugural college day function will be presided over by Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan,Founder President and Chancellor of  Saveetha University. Dr.R.Rajesh, Director,

Saveetha Engineering College will grace the function. Dr.E.N.Ganesh, Principal,Saveetha Engineering College will welcome the gathering and present the college annual report. HODs, faculty members, special invitees, 4000 students and representatives of the press and media will make their presence. On this occasion achievers from faculty and students will be awarded with cash prizes, medals and certificates.

Sports meet 2016 of Saveetha Engineering College will be inaugurated at 9.00 am on  4th of March 2016  by Ms.Pratibha Suryasekar, Captain, Indian Basket Ball Team. Prizes will distributed for the winners of many games and sports event on this  occasion.

The Annual Cultural Festival “ Sa.. Vee..Ga..Maa..2016” which is  scheduled on 5th of March 2016 will be a grand event with shining stars from cinema industries. Mr.R.SarathKumar,Actor, Mrs.Kala, Dancer, Mr.Sridhar, Dancer will be the chief guests.

INTRA CLIENT COUNSELLING COMPETITION 2016.
Chennai: Saveetha School of Law, Saveetha University  organized a two day  ( 25th &26th )’Intra Client Counselling Competition 2016’ at Saveetha School of Law , University campus Poonamallee, Chennai on 25th and 26th  2016.
 Hon’ble Justice Dr.T N Vallinayagam was the Guest of Honour, and  distribute Prices. Saveetha University Vice Chancellor Dr. R Rajagopal Presided over the function. Saveetha School of Law Director Prof Dr. Anitha Rao welcome the gathering and Assist. Prof. of  law  Vasundara Ravi delivered the vote of thanks.
The Client Counselling Competition promotes greater knowledge and interest among law students in the preventive law and counselling functions of law practice. It also encourages students to develop interviewing, planning, and analytical skills in the lawyer-client relationship in the law office. Interviewing and advising are a significant part of most lawyers’ work. The Competition provides an opportunity for a valuable educational interchange between students, law teachers, and legal practitioners.

Client Counselling Competition:

It gives us immense pleasure to conduct the first Intra – Client Counselling Competition (ICCC)’16 in our college which is among our students where each team shall consist of two student participants and would be allotted a room for the interview and counselling. Here, the two student participants will present themselves as advocates in a lawyer’s chamber. The client will be a person trained by the organizers and the advocates will counsel the clients regarding the given problem. The two participants are required to elicit all relevant information from the client by interviewing or questioning the client and then counsel the client. This competition will be conducted on 25th &26th February, 2016 in Saveetha School The Winners of ICCC’ 16 shall be awarded each with one year subscription of Practical Lawyer (for two students).
