Saveetha Dental college proudly hosted STAR Summit

Chennai:Saveetha Dental college proudly hosted the first ever of its kind ,Saveetha Transdiscplinary Annual Research (STAR) Summit that spanned over a period 12 days from 29 june – 11 july 2015.

Over 1160 research papers were presented by the undergraduate students in the form of posters and was judged by 110 judges and more than 200 peer judges from across different institutions and 125 awards were given across all specialties in basic medical sciences and dentistry .

The pinnacle of this summit was the valedictory function that was held on Saturday in which Dr.J Radhakrishnan IAS ,Secretary to Government of TamilNadu ,Health and Familwelfare was the chief guest and Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan ,Chancellor ,Saveetha university  presided over the function.Dr.Deepak Nallasawmy ,Director of academics and chairman of Scientific review board ,Saveetha University  welcomed the chief guest and urged the younger generation to look up to individuals like Dr.J.Radhakrishnan who is popular across all strata of society because of his dedication and commitment to serve humanity.

 DrN.M.Veeraiyan elaborated on that after several years of hardships and hurdles the institution can now proudly consider it to be a near Model dental college.Dr.J.Radhakrishnan congratulated the winners of the best research award and inspired and motivated the students to start dental practice in rural areas as the awareness and follow up of dental problems is very low in interior rural sectors. He urged the students to be grateful and be committed  to their parents as they have laid good foundation for their future. Dr.N.D.Jayakumar ,Dean Saveetha Dental college announced the best research awards and the students enjoyed proud moments as for many of them ,they were receiving the award from their role model ,Dr.J.Radhakrishnan who had inspired them and many of them from whom they had received prizes as children when he was collector in various parts of Tamilnadu.

 Dr.Pratibha Ramani ,Asst.Dean of Research,proposed the vote of thanks and thanked her team and emphasized that team work has been pivotal in the success of this summit . Synchronizing the teaching curriculum with research right from the undergraduate level enables the students of saveetha Dental college to have an edge over others in this competitive scenario with the STAR Summit being the stepping stone for achieving greater heights.

Chennai: "White Coat Ceremony 2015" of Saveetha University (MBBS and BDS Students) Was held at the M M Convention Centre in Saveetha Dental College Campus poonnamallee.

Dr.Gita Arjun,Director of E V  Kalyani Medical Foundation and Dr. Sekhar Chennupati Founder and Managing Director of Denty's Clinics was the Chief guests. Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan Chancellor of Saveetha University presided over the function and distributed white coats to the students.

Chennai: Saveetha Transdisciplinary Annual Research Summit(Star Summit-2015)was inaugurated here on ( 29 th June)today by Dr.N M Veeraiyan,Chancellor,Saveetha University at Decennial hall,Saveetha Dental College .Sri Ramachandra University Dean of research Prof.Dr.S.P.Thyagarajan was the chief guest.Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan, Founder President and Chancellor of Saveetha University presided over the function.
The STAR summit spans over a period of 12 days from 29th June 2015 to 11th July 2015 where in over 1400 research projects of our undergraduate students will be showcased, among them 53 papers have been accepted to be published for the month of May.  STAR summit will have 4 days dedicated
exclusively for basic medical sciences, two days for preclinical research work and six days for clinical research. What other place would be more apt to display these projects than the library where the thinking caps go on our student’s brains. Our ever buzzing library will progress a step ahead and become a scholarly apiary for those 12 days.  The students’ work will be reviewed and appraised by other students, their peers from other colleges and also from eminent faculties in each fraternity. Gone are the days where
a research has to percolate through many barriers to reach their pedestal, here we are offering a priceless platform for our students to reach out and extend our arms to the scientific globe around us.

For the first time in India, SSE has organized a 24 hours non-stop coding Marathon (HACKATHON)on 20th & 21st Feb 2015 at university level. Around 174 students with 39 teams participated in this competition and developed 44 applications within this shorter duration. They developed applications for Android platforms, web applications, anti- virus software, Windows mobile applications.SSE ensures a sustainable future by providing Value Added Programs to students along with their curriculum like CAD/CAM, Embedded Systems, VLSI, CCNA, SAP, Animation Skills, Web Designing &Web Hosting, Oracle, Android Mobile Application and many more.
SSE encourages students to extend their knowledge through conducting Certification Programs. SSE also promotes Research and Development activities like Journal Publications, Sponsorship by University to transfer ideas and knowledge for the wealth of the society. Many good ideas
grow and become innovations through Research Labs, Prometric Test Centres and Centre of Excellence. Chennai: Saveetha School of Law is conducting the 3rd Jus Amicus National Moot Court Competition-2015, from 10th to 12th April 2015 at Saveetha School of Law, Saveetha University,

Poonamallee High Road, Velappanchavadi, Chennai.

Saveetha School of law is proud to add one more feather to its cap by conducting the 3rd Jus

Amicus National Moot Court Competition. Saveetha School of Law has achieved this milestone by successfully conducting two Jus Amicus National Moot Court Competitions in the year 2011 and 2012.  This moot will witness 35 teams participating from various law colleges across the country. The finals will be presided by a Full Bench consisting of Justice R. Mahadevan, Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana and Justice S.Vaidhyanathan from Madras High Court.  The other rounds will be judged by Senior Counsels of Madras High Court and other legal luminaries.

The inaugural address will be given by Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan, Founder President & Chancellor of Saveetha University. Keynote speakers include Dr. Mythili Bhaskaran-vice Chancellor Saveetha university), Dr. Prabavathy-Registrar(Saveetha University), Prof. Dr.Anita Rao Director Saveetha school of law) and Dr. Omana George, Principal,(Saveetha school of law).

The curriculum with Inter-disciplinary approach and Clinical Legal Education Training of the

students is best suited to produce future Lawyers with Social Commitment, Judges with objective

thinking and Bureaucrats with compassionate attitude. The moot court is one such technique which helps us to achieve the above set goal.  The moot court is one of the forums where various legal buds will bloom.  Through this we are establishing a common platform for the law students across the country where they compete and share their skills.

Saveetha School of Law established in 2009 aims to strive for imparting Quality Legal Education and maintains higher standards of Legal Research and Training.  The first batch of Saveetha School of law has sucessfully passed out in the academic year 2014-15.

The work published in Cochrane is recognized as representing an international gold standard for high quality, trusted information. Moreover, the Cochrane stands out with its published systematic reviews with an esteemed impact factor of 5.940.

The Cochrane contributors are involved in gathering and summarizing the best evidence from research to help its audience and make informed choices about treatment. The mission of Cochrane is to provide accessible, credible information to support informed decision-making for improving global health.  Cochrane evidence provides a powerful tool to enhance the healthcare knowledge and decision making.

As access to health evidence increases, so do the risks of misinterpreting complex content; meanwhile the likelihood of any one person getting a complete and balanced picture decreases. The mission of Cochrane is to provide this complex information in the form of high quality systematic reviews which are updated in a timely basis by the contributors, to support informed decision-making and evidence based interventions which would result in improved global health.

Cochrane's contributors are affiliated to the organization through Cochrane groups: healthcare subject-related review groups, thematic networks, groups concerned with the methodology of systematic reviews, and regional centres. One of such group held in INDIA is Cochrane Oral Health Group. We feel proud to be the part of this group with our contribution towards the same.
