Maharastra National Law University( MNLU),Mumbai and Saveetha University, Chennai entered into a Memorandum of Understanding  at Saveetha University campus, Thandalam.on28th October 2015.
The MoU was signed between the Vice-Chancellor of MNLU Prof.Dr. Bhavani Prasad Panda, and the Vice-Chancellor of Saveetha University Dr. Mythili Bhaskaran in the presence of Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan, the Hon’ble Chancellor of Saveetha University, Dr. Rajagopal, Advisor of Saveetha UniversityDr. D.Prabhavathy,Registrar of Saveetha University, Prof. Dr. R. Anita Rao, Director, Saveetha School of Law. MNLU situated in Mumbai  under the National Law School of
India Act ,under Maharastra State. Saveetha Universitysituated in Chennai was declared as “Deemed to be University” under Sec. 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 in the year 2005 offers various Medical and Technical Courses namely Dental, Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Engineering, Management and Law. Saveetha University has desired to establish academic collaboration with Institutions of Excellence in Law in India and MNLU is one among such recognized institutions for the purpose of Academic Collaboration that will encompass exchange of students and members of faculty between both the universities besides other academic activities, research and publication.
The Memorandum of Understanding ensures co-operation in building intellectual, teaching, training and research capacity and research scholarship in Law, whereby faculty members from each of the universities would be invited for important seminars, conferences and for teaching at doctoral level and Ph.D. Scholars would be able to make use of the library resources of each other and to have academic interaction with the faculty.

The Cochrane contributors are involved in gathering and summarizing the best evidence from research to help its audience and make informed choices about treatment. The mission of Cochrane is to provide accessible, credible information to support informed decision-making for improving global health.  Cochrane evidence provides a powerful tool to enhance the healthcare knowledge and decision making.
As access to health evidence increases, so do the risks of misinterpreting complex content; meanwhile the likelihood of any one person getting a complete and balanced picture decreases. The mission of Cochrane is to provide this complex information in the form of high quality systematic reviews which are updated in a timely basis by the contributors, to support informed decision-making and evidence based interventions which would result in improved global health.
Cochrane's contributors are affiliated to the organization through Cochrane groups: healthcare subject-related review groups, thematic networks, groups concerned with the methodology of systematic reviews, and regional centres. One of such group held in INDIA is Cochrane Oral Health Group. We feel proud to be the part of this group with our contribution towards the same.
The author team lead by Dr. Saurav Panda, Professor Sheeja Varghese, Professor Malaiappa Sankari, Professor N. D. Jayakumar and Dr. Surendar Ramamoorthi from Saveetha University, India, with the collaboration of Dr. Massimo Del Fabbro from Università degli Studi di Milano and his colleagues, Dr. Valentina Ceresoli, Dr. Caterina Ceci  and Dr. Silvio Taschieri from University of Milan IRCCS Galazzi Orthopaedic Institute, contributed a high quality gold standard  systematic review on “Autologous Platelet Concentrates in treatment of Periodontal Defects”.

She donated her mortal remains to SAVEETHA MEDICAL COLLEGE for educating the medical Students. It is our honour and privilege to be a Instrument in this great sacrifice. We appreciate with gratitude this great soul and her family members for this decision. My friend, sincere well wisher

Whole body donation
Voluntary Body Donation is a programme wherein the general population
can will their bodies to serve the purpose of medical education and
scientific studies. The public is providing the most important resource
 needed for innovation in medical practice. Primarily, the body donation
 under this programme helps the medical student to learn the relations of
human anatomical structures and development of psychomotor skills by dissection.Though, with improvement in technology many assisted models have developed in the form of mannequins and simulations, none of these can be a replacement to a realistic cadaver. Each cadaver is like a new source of knowledge as many variations can be identified which could help the clinicians.
In addition to this, these donations help the surgeons to experiment innovative surgical skills and procedures in form of cadaver labs, workshops, thus giving them an opportunity to explore in a realistic manner. Another innovation evolved are the cadaver banks like brain banks, skin and vessel bank which are collections of these samples that later can be used for conducting molecular research and cadaver grafting.

With all these uses culminating into the service of humanity, body donations are precious gifts to the humankind. Needless to say that the concept campaigned by Live Well Leave Well society could contribute immensely for the cause. With the rising number of medical colleges and scarcity of cadavers Voluntary Body Donation is definitely a saviour and a ray of hope for the betterment of medical science

About Smt. P. Saroja
Smt. Saroja was the only daughter born to a simple lady in a very remote village named Thamminayakan Patti of Theni district on 1st March 1949. She completed her education (teacher training) with the support of the few relatives and friends and a great deal of struggle and sacrifices from her mother Smt. Pechiammal who was a single parent. Smt. Saroja started her career in 1966 from her own village and moved to Chennai later on in the year 1973 after her wedding with Sri. A. Chelladurai.
Her interest towards higher education and financial needs drove her to complete MA and B.Ed in Tamil literature. Her intelligence, hard work and commitment helped her to achieve higher capacities.          Smt. Saroja not only earned fame for herself but also for her school by securing 100% results for many consecutive years. She was adored by her students and fellow teachers for her simplicity, competency and caring nature. Her dedication and commitment in teaching the poor students studying in corporation school and the love she shared made them to consider her as one of their family members. Many of her students were very fondly associated even after many years of her retirement. After her 33 years of untiring service she was superannuated in 2007. During her tenure, she was awarded twice asa best teacher by Chennai Corporation.
She toiled day and night to balance her family and professional life and raising her three children as not only one of the best professionals in their disciplines but also responsible citizenssuccessfully. She was very keen in inculcating the values and principles in her children as well as her students. She kept herself in the fore front to extend a helping hand for people in physical, emotional and financial needs.
Qualities like determination, devotion and decision makingmade people to admireand accept Smt. Saroja as their role model.She continued to be inspirational for others even after her demise by taking a courageous decision of donating her whole body for the purpose of medical education.

Chennai:Saveetha Dental college proudly hosted the first ever of its kind ,Saveetha Transdiscplinary Annual Research (STAR) Summit that spanned over a period 12 days from 29 june – 11 july 2015.

Over 1160 research papers were presented by the undergraduate students in the form of posters and was judged by 110 judges and more than 200 peer judges from across different institutions and 125 awards were given across all specialties in basic medical sciences and dentistry .

The pinnacle of this summit was the valedictory function that was held on Saturday in which Dr.J Radhakrishnan IAS ,Secretary to Government of TamilNadu ,Health and Familwelfare was the chief guest and Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan ,Chancellor ,Saveetha university  presided over the function.Dr.Deepak Nallasawmy ,Director of academics and chairman of Scientific review board ,Saveetha University  welcomed the chief guest and urged the younger generation to look up to individuals like Dr.J.Radhakrishnan who is popular across all strata of society because of his dedication and commitment to serve humanity.

 DrN.M.Veeraiyan elaborated on that after several years of hardships and hurdles the institution can now proudly consider it to be a near Model dental college.Dr.J.Radhakrishnan congratulated the winners of the best research award and inspired and motivated the students to start dental practice in rural areas as the awareness and follow up of dental problems is very low in interior rural sectors. He urged the students to be grateful and be committed  to their parents as they have laid good foundation for their future. Dr.N.D.Jayakumar ,Dean Saveetha Dental college announced the best research awards and the students enjoyed proud moments as for many of them ,they were receiving the award from their role model ,Dr.J.Radhakrishnan who had inspired them and many of them from whom they had received prizes as children when he was collector in various parts of Tamilnadu.

 Dr.Pratibha Ramani ,Asst.Dean of Research,proposed the vote of thanks and thanked her team and emphasized that team work has been pivotal in the success of this summit . Synchronizing the teaching curriculum with research right from the undergraduate level enables the students of saveetha Dental college to have an edge over others in this competitive scenario with the STAR Summit being the stepping stone for achieving greater heights.

Chennai: "White Coat Ceremony 2015" of Saveetha University (MBBS and BDS Students) Was held at the M M Convention Centre in Saveetha Dental College Campus poonnamallee.

Dr.Gita Arjun,Director of E V  Kalyani Medical Foundation and Dr. Sekhar Chennupati Founder and Managing Director of Denty's Clinics was the Chief guests. Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan Chancellor of Saveetha University presided over the function and distributed white coats to the students.

White coats are symbolic of the professionalism that is expected of students during Medicine and Dentistry, and as physicians and dentists.
White coat ceremony reaffirms the community's support of the educational process that prepares future health care professionals for practice. On this day, students pledge their commitment to their professions and to the health of the patients they will serve.
